Warehouse Management
Warehouse management is the second area of distribution logistics. It involves the physical warehouse infrastructure, tracking systems, and communication between product stations. Warehouse management deals with receipt, storage and movement of goods, normally finished goods, to intermediate storage locations or to final customer.
A warehouse concept is developed optimizing the throughput time, the workforce efficiency and the hardware, such as storage and material handling equipment. Subsequently, the warehouse organization is defined as well as the physical infrastructure and the required information system support.
